Dwayne Johnson will be honored at the 8th American Black Film Festival Honors on February 16. The Rock will receive the Entertainment Icon Award. As previously announced, Jennifer Hudson will receive the Renaissance Award.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor the late Chadwick Boseman with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. Ryan Coogler, who directed Boseman in “Black Panther”, and Viola Davis, his co-star in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” will speak at the ceremony.
Eminem is taking legal action against an Australian beach umbrella and bag company called Swim Shady. In a petition filed with the U.S. Trademark and Copyright Office, his lawyers said the name “is confusingly similar” to Em’s famous ‘Slim Shady’ nickname, which he has had trademarked since the 1990s.
Guns N’ Roses and Foo Fighters will headline “Welcome to Rockville 2026”, completing a lineup that boasts more than 160 bands. The annual rock festival, held at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida, will also feature co-headliners My Chemical Romance and Bring Me the Horizon. It is set to run May 7-10.

He said work began before Diane Keaton’s death on October 11 at age 79 from bacterial pneumonia. The original movie featured Diane as Sybil Stone, a mother facing breast cancer during a family Christmas gathering.
Ricky Gervais’ new stand-up special, “Mortality”, will debut on Netflix on December 30. The show, filmed in 2025 at the London Palladium, explores Ricky’s views on life, death, and the world with his trademark dark humor. “I think ‘Mortality’ is my most honest and confessional show so far and also my favourite tour.” He’s donating part of the proceeds to charity.
Major League Baseball announced a new national media rights deal with ESPN, NBCUniversal, and Netflix. NBC acquired Sunday Night Baseball, completing its almost year-long cycle of Sunday night sports with NFL and NBA games. NBC will also get the Wild Card Playoff Round.
